Where are the library’s books and other resources?

Our collections are largely online. See our Getting started section for your Search options. We provide access to electronic books, journals, articles, reports, dissertations, news and more. We also hold a print collection and can send you print material (or drop it to you if you are on campus).

I've tried searching the library but I'm not finding what I need. How can you help?

We can show you how to get the best results searching the library. Get in touch with your Subject Liaison to set up a 1-1 session. You might also like to check out our Getting started section - this includes some handy videos on searching.

Does the Library provide advice on referencing?

Yes, we do. We can answer your APA 7 referencing questions and provide other referencing advice, e.g. pros/cons of referencing software. Also see our Referencing section for guides and information. 

How do I know if the Library holds the articles and books I find in Google Scholar?

We can quickly show you how to activate Library Links in Google Scholar.

Can I recommend books for the library to purchase?

We welcome recommendations of titles to add to our collection to support your research or teaching. Get in touch with your Subject Liaison and they’ll look into it for you.

I saw an article cited by someone else. Can you get me a copy?

You may have access to the article via our Library. If not, we have extensive access to books and articles from other libraries. We will do our best to get it for you via inter-library loan. Contact us to check for you.

Can the library run a literature search for me?

Yes, we can. We have experience and expertise in literature searching. Get in touch with your Subject Liaison - they will talk with you about your research question and find out exactly what you need. You will receive a comprehensive list of relevant resources.

Can I get notified when the latest issue of a journal is available through the Library?

Yes, you can. This 1 minute video shows you how to set this up via an Ebsco database access databases here. (Note, the 'Publications' tab mentioned in the video is sometimes called 'Journals'.) 
Get in touch with your Subject Liaison if you need any assistance. We can also help you to set up a notification from the publisher.

How do I keep up to date with the latest works published in my research area?

You can set up a Search/Subject alert, so you can be reassured you are in touch with the latest research. This 1.5 minute video shows you how to do this via an Ebsco database access databases here. (Note, you can also do this after running a 'Search Everything' or 'Advanced Search'.)

How do I get an interloan?

We have extensive access to books and articles from other NZ libraries via inter-library loans. Contact us and we will do our best to get it for you.

Kia ora, due to the Easter public holidays, staff will be unavailable from Friday 29.03.24, and return on Wednesday 3.04.24. Ebooks and databases will remain available throughout the break. Have a good break!
