September 1-7, 2025 is Conservation Week.

Conservation Week aligns with courses and programmes on offer here at Open Polytechnic, from our Conservation and Natural Resources Law course, to our Bachelor of Applied Science (Environment).
Here in the Library & Learning Centre we hold many conservation-related resources. Here's a taster, but there are many more - get in touch if we can help you find something you're after.

With over 4,000 of Aotearoa-New Zealand's native species now threatened or at risk of extinction, the Department of Conservation is calling on each of us to make the most of the week (and beyond) as an opportunity to do something good for nature.

Check out the ways you can be involved - whether you run a beach clean up (the Library & Learning Centre team can recommend this having taken part in several clean ups now, and with plans to do more), enjoy a local walk, take DOC's daily quiz, complete their online bird ID course or more. Check out DOC's ideas here.
