The Open Access movement advocates providing the broadest possible access to knowledge by removing paywalls and facilitating global outreach. This year’s theme for Open Access week is Who owns our knowledge? Researchers are encouraged to reclaim control over the knowledge they produce and think about how it is shared, accessed and credited (SPARC, n.d.).
The Library & Learning Centre has a great book with a really helpful chapter about Open Access by Lai Ma in her book The Scholarly Communication Handbook.
We also recommend you visit Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) where you can read freely available articles.
