World Refugee Day

Article Date
June 16, 2025

Each year 20 June marks World Refugee Day. It is a day to honour people who have been forced to flee their homes to escape conflict or persecution. This year the focus is on solidarity with refugees. An excerpt from UN Secretary-General António Guterres’ speech:

“Becoming a refugee is never a choice
  But how we respond is
  So let us choose solidarity
  Let us choose courage
  Let us choose humanity”
